InterAct - a project for cross-location teaching
With the release of version 3 of ChatGPT in November 2022 at the latest, the educational landscape was forced to comprehensively question and justify its stance on the topic of artificial intelligence at very short notice. In order to be able to shed light on the effects of the disruptive change from multiple perspectives, the measure applied for here is aimed at interdisciplinary networking between the two locations. The Weitergedacht project is a cooperation between the Kaisreslautern site, represented by Prof. Dr. Leo van Waveren, and the Landau site, represented by PD Dr. Walter Kühn and Dr. Janin Aadam. An interdisciplinary lecture series in the summer semester 2024 and winter semester 2024/2025 serves as a starting point. Students often find it difficult to relate content across different courses, especially across the boundaries of disciplines. With the joint focus on artificial intelligence, the challenges are illuminated from different specialist cultures. As each of the open events in the lecture series is itself in the context of courses, their inherent common thread can be used to highlight the points of contact.
As a constructivist mediation process (cf. Arnold, 2005), the series of events focuses on promoting and enabling individual engagement with the subject of artificial intelligence. The summer school proposed here and the intended anthology will not only serve the purpose of reflective position finding, but will also contribute to visibility in the scientific discourse and to the long-term development of the people involved.
