The vacation course by M.Sc. Johannes Bayer offers the opportunity to gain an introduction to the world of artificial intelligence using electrical engineering circuit diagrams and is aimed at young people aged 15-18. The main aim of the course is to teach practical work with neural networks for application to an exemplary field of application. Based on the didactic concept of complete action in vocational training, the course uses circuit diagrams to repeat familiar electrical engineering basics and close learning gaps. Building on this, concrete circuits are planned on paper and realized using kits. Neural networks are then trained together with the participants on the graphic representations of the circuits and the images of the built circuits in order to convey the concepts and functions of artificial intelligence.
The CircuitGraph software is used, which recognizes electrical circuits from handwritten and printed circuit diagrams with the help of image processing based on machine learning. In addition, CircuitGraph is able to identify highly developed technical concepts in these circuits and support users by automatically completing these structures.
