Video analysis for teaching professionalization and networking (VAL.NET)

VAL.NET project description

The VAL.NET project (self-financing) aims to promote the professional perception of teaching through criteria-based observation of teaching videos. Teachers are supported in creating lesson videos and analyzing them based on predefined criteria. The video analysis not only serves the individual reflection and further development of teachers, but is also intended to initiate and expand cross-phase exchange processes between study seminars and schools. In particular, vocational schools from the TU.net MINT network will be integrated into the network formation in order to create a broad basis for interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary exchange and the joint assurance of teaching quality. VAL.NET thus offers holistic support for teachers to increase their professionalism and at the same time create a collaborative working environment for professional exchange, e.g. as part of the teachers' regulars' table.

The technological basis is the VIDOTEACH platform(Egroupware), which enables synchronous and asynchronous communication about lessons in video sequences. Building on the ProKomLAB project, video vignettes were integrated into a seminar concept using VIDOTEACH to promote professional competence in BBS teacher training courses. Since 10/2023, VIDOTEACH has been used in an internal pilot project for video-supported counseling in the metal technology seminar at the Speyer/Kaiserslautern study seminar. The VAL.NET project thus forms an interface in which Andrea Faath-Becker combines her two main areas of activity as a subject leader at the college and as a research assistant at the university. This will further expand and strengthen the cross-phase cooperation between the university and the Studienseminar.
