Bringing quantum technologies into general education
11 Recommendations for education policy, universities and civil society
Due to the topicality of the subject of quantum technologies, the Stifterverband and the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation have initiated an exchange between experts from the fields of quantum physics and quantum informatics. This resulted in a discussion paper with recommendations on quantum skills in teacher training. The recommended measures are aimed in particular at student teachers and teachers of STEM subjects who have studied further back. By implementing the recommendations, the aim is to promote the introduction of quantum technologies into school lessons by integrating them into both science and IT lessons on an interdisciplinary basis. Teachers must be trained accordingly. The formulated recommendations relate to the four dimensions:
- Adaptation of the framework conditions
- Adaptation of the desired skills profile of prospective teachers and adaptation of courses in teacher training programs
- Offering compatible and comprehensive teacher training courses
- Provision of supporting resources (e.g. extracurricular learning venues)
Further information on the master plan for teacher training can be found on the Stifterverbande website.
