Given the current relevance of quantum technologies, the Stifterverband, in collaboration with the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, has initiated a dialogue between experts in quantum physics and quantum computing. This effort has resulted in a discussion paper containing recommendations on quantum skills in teacher education. The recommended measures are aimed in particular at pre-service teachers and teachers of STEM subjects who completed their own studies some time ago. Implementing these recommendations is intended to facilitate the integration of quantum technologies into school curricula by incorporating them in an interdisciplinary manner into both science and Computer Science classes. To achieve this, teachers must receive appropriate training. The recommendations address the following four dimensions:

• Adjustment of the framework conditions
• Adjusting the target competency profile for prospective teachers and adapting courses in teacher education programs
• Offering seamless and comprehensive professional development programs for teachers
• Provision of supportive resources (e.g., extracurricular learning venues)
